Murals Coordinator

Type: Full-time, 10-week contract (must be between 18-30 years of age)

Location: Sudbury, Ontario. Combination of office and remote options plus on-site event work
Reporting To: General Manager, Jaymie Lathem
Compensation: $20.00/hr
Position Description
We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced professional who is passionate about community building, public art, emerging music and presenting creative events in an urban setting.
The Murals Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the logistics around the creation of new pieces of public art for Up Here festival. Their role is to ensure that artists are properly supported. We are in search of a core team member who will bring a calm, detailed, and thoughtful leadership approach, while joining us in our passion for bringing art and people together.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate may possess:
Experience with festival or event coordination within the arts sector;
Experience with mural creation or coordination;
Strong leadership skills with experience in working with a team of volunteers in event production settings;
Exceptionally strong communication, organization, problem solving skills as well as the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and effectively manage priorities;
Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of empathy;
Ability to process and interpret critical feedback into work;
Certification for Working at Heights and Lift Operating (training will be provided if not yet secured).
Key Responsibilities
The MURALS Coordinator will collaborate with the General Manager to:
Uphold a safe and inclusive space for co-workers, volunteers, artists, and patrons, including taking actions to ensure an environment free of harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia;
Coordinate the confirmation of mural locations and build relationships with the owners of the walls;
Assist to prepare artist contracts;
Oversee the process and completion of designated mural projects;
Assist with the coordination of artist hospitality and volunteers for muralists and mural projects;
Assist coordinating and preparing materials, including clean up, maintenance, keeping track of stock and storage, and ordering materials as needed;
Coordinate paint touch-ups on past murals;
Contribute to ongoing improvements to relevant internal processes and strategies;
Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with our community;
Respond in a timely fashion to email, phone and all other communications;
Participate in any required team meetings;
Maintain the organization of personal and confidential information;
Other duties as needed.
