Position Description
We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced professional who is passionate about community building, public art, emerging music and presenting creative events in an urban setting.
The Marketing & Experience Development Manager position and job description will evolve over time. We are in search of a core team member who will bring a calm, detailed, and thoughtful leadership approach, while joining us in our passion for bringing art and people together.
This pivotal role involves developing and leading creative marketing campaigns while also strategizing and implementing new product and experience development to enhance community engagement and organizational sustainability. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful leader with strong communication and project management skills. Working closely with the General Manager and cross-functional teams, they will develop innovative marketing strategies and identify new opportunities to expand our programming, products, and audience engagement.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate may possess:
A diploma or degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field;
Proven experience as a creative marketing and communications lead, with a track record of successful campaigns (experience within the festival or arts sector considered an asset);
Proficiency with digital marketing platforms, including social media management tools, marketing automation software, and web analytics;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences (media, artists, sponsors, community) proficiency in French considered an asset;
Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with an eye for design and attention to detail;
An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and optimize strategies;
Knowledge of current marketing trends, consumer behavior, and emerging digital technologies;
Experience with project management tools such as Google Suite, AI tools, survey software, brand tracking tools, and Slack;
Exceptional organizational, listening, and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of empathy;
The ability to process and interpret critical feedback into actionable improvements.
Key Responsibilities
The Marketing & Experience Development Manager will collaborate with the General Manager to:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Uphold a safe and inclusive space for co-workers, volunteers, artists, and patrons, including taking actions to ensure an environment free of harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia;
Maintain personal and confidential information with discretion;
Attend team meetings and work collaboratively and effectively with other staff and organizational team members;
Perform additional duties as needed.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with organizational goals;
Revise, adapt, and execute the annual Marketing Plan for the organization and its programs, including Up Here festival;
Oversee content creation for digital and print channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and advertisements;
Manage and optimize multi-channel campaigns (SEO, social media advertising, email marketing, print ads, radio);
Monitor and analyze marketing performance, providing data-driven recommendations for improvement;
Develop press releases, media pitches, and targeted publicity efforts to increase organizational visibility;
Coordinate audience development strategies alongside the Programming Team
Lead and support the Up Here communications team, including volunteers and content creators.
EXPERIENCE & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Identify opportunities for new and expanded programming, products, and community engagement initiatives;
Support the development of sponsorship and in-kind partnerships, including preparing pitch decks and reports;
Develop and execute audience engagement strategies for Up Here festival and other initiatives;
Maintain the organization’s digital presence, including website updates and content optimization;
Cultivate and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, sponsors, and media partners.
